I began making knives in the mid 80’s. Starting out, I studied under two well known Texas makers, J.B. Moore and Weldon Whitley. I began making Fixed Blade Hunters and Skinners for the first few years, and finally tried my hand at folders, which is my true passion. I tried my hand at forging for a few years, but found out that it wasn’t for me, and stuck to stock removal.

I’m a former member of the Knifemakers Guild, and current a member of the American Bladesmith Society, and Texas Knifemakers Guild.

Today, I build several different mechanisms…Lockbacks, Slipjoints, Linerlocks, and have evolved into building highend Double Action Liner Lock Autos.

I use a variety of materials…my favorite blade material is damascus, which I commission to professional Bladesmiths to forge for me. For handle materials I prefer Mammoth ivory, Mother of Pearl, and several semiprecious materials.

I have been teaching various knifemaking classes, for about the past 10-15 years, at my home shop. Classes include Fixed blade, Lockback, Slipjoint, and Flipper classes. Classes are limited to two students per class, and I average about 10-12 students over the year.
