India bans import of foreign drones; Modi govt's Atmanirbhar push in drone manufacturing
印度禁止進口外國無人機，莫迪政府大力推進本土無人機制造
The go nment has banned import of foreign drones with certain exceptions as part of efforts to prome domestic manufacturing of drones in the country. Import of drones for R&D, defence and security purposes have been exempted from the ban but such imports will require due clearances. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) under the commerce and industry ministry has issued a notification banning the import of foreign drones. The move is aimed at promoting the domestic drone manufacturing in the country.
印度政府已下令禁止進口外國無人機，這是該國推動本土無人機制造的努力的一部分。
用於研發、國防和安全目的的無人機進口不受禁令限制，但此類進口將需要獲得許可。
印度商業和工業部下屬的對外貿易總局(DGFT)釋出了一項通知，禁止進口外國無人機。此舉旨在促進國內無人機制造業的發展。

It's a good initiative by govt, as indian drone company can finally generate some revenue which was eaten by Chinese company, but it will be better if this ban is temporary in nature, say 3 or 4 years. By that time indian drone companies will have enough capital to make top class product, and it should compete well with the foreign brand. Temporary ban is okay, but permanent ban is not alot a good option as it will discourage company from innovating due to lack of competation from foreign drone companies.

Thank god I got my DJI mavic before. Indian drones are not bad, but honestly not on par with top line providers. I'm gonna stick to my DJI.
Edit: if your product is good, you won't need to ban, people would choose you anyway.

But approval is not required for parts import , ...that means it will not be fruitful in real. It would help sectors which involve manufacturing of drones if there were total ban of imports including parts.
